Blues Week 2016...done and well done!

Local boy won the guitar this year, I know he can dance but now I gotta hear him play...
Designing a poster each year for the raffle is a lot of fun, and then we auction the 24" x 36" poster off to defray costs and someone has a very cool collection...The artist who originally designed the poster featuring the magician Carter is not credited, only the Otis Lithograph Co. of Cleveland 1926. I have tried not to destroy the effects of the beautiful image...whilst having my way with it.

Very unique tribute raffle...

For many years our friend Mike Pearson joined us as a student during our annual Blues Camp.
The camp, the blues community and the music were a passion with him...
Mike built this guitar in the last year of his life, and before passing away told his family and friends that he wished to donate his labour of love to The Hornby Island Blues Society to raffle for a Blues scholarship.
Mike’s special presence will remain part of our Blues Workshop Family...his big hearted spirit remembered in this unique raffle which will cycle his guitar back each year.

This, the epic wrap up to a Week filled with great music and terrific workshops.

2016 season begins...Blue and bumptious

'An Evening with Jonathan Byrd and Corin Raymond' was a real treat...two fabulous storytellers delivering big time to a crowd in the newly evolving Sea Breeze Lodge.
David Vest is as good as it gets and I always feel honoured to put a poster together for his gigs here on the island.
